This poem written to Bill Cosby
A single bell
tolls in your heart today...
For your beloved son who was called away...
You had your son for only a short time...
But he brought to you, a lot of sunshine...
He was your "HERO," your pride and joy...
He was all grown up, but was still your "Boy"...
As parents we do the best job we can...
Then we have to let go, and it’s out of our hands.
We want to keep them safe by our side...
But they sprout their wings, they're off for a ride.
Where the ride takes them is called destiny...
And it’s a mystery of life that we can't foresee.
One of the most difficult things a parent must do...
Is say good-bye to a child, with hearts so blue...
We know that the loss is difficult to bear...
May it comfort you to know, that we all care...
The loss will forever with you stay...
But his memory will linger forever and a day...
One must have faith to lean upon...
To get through this darkness and into dawn...
Please be assured, with a smile on his face...
He said, "Hello Friend" as he passed through the gates...
Our thoughts are with you and your family...
And pray that soon you'll have peace and tranquility.

Fifty years have come and gone...
Since the two of you were wed...
‘'Twas in Westminster Abbey...
Where the "I do’s" were said...
It was a cold day in November...
Of nineteen forty-seven...
When the two of you joined together...
A royal marriage made in heaven...
You have honored each the other...
Over all the years...
At times the road was rough...
And there were many tears...
It’s rather sad that royalty...
Is not allowed emotion...
I’m sure that there are sorrows...
Enough to fill an ocean...
Though the waters have been troubled...
And darkness fell around...
You had your love and memories...
To keep your feet upon the ground....
May God look down upon you...
And shower you with love...
May you always feel his presence...
And his blessings from above...
May the golden colors of the sunset...
Forever grace your life...
And may you be blessed forever...
As a husband and a wife...
